A4 size documents are standard in professional environment. Many times a document is required in image format ( jpg, png, etc) or in PDF format. Creating a document of accurate size and proportion is necessary.

A4 size Specifications
A4 size paper physical dimension: Width x Height
- Millimeters: 210 mm × 297 mm
- Inches: 8.268 in x 11.693 in, 8.3 in × 11.7 in (approx)
- Centimeters: 21 cm x 29.7 cm
In digital format, the image is made up of pixels. For display of the image on digital screen, the term Pixel per inch(PPI) is used. Image with higher PPI can retain more details in the image.
For printing purpose the term Dot per Inch(DPI) is used. Printer DPI tells about its ability to print with finer details. For most of the time the printer will use PPI info in the image as DPI for printing the image.
For a document to have good level of details in A4 size paper a minimum of 300 DPI is required.
A4 size resolution of image:
- 300 DPI : 2480 px × 3508 px
Create A4 size image using Photoscape image editor
To create a new image, open Photoscape app and select Editor tab.
Click New button.
- Set the Width to 2480.
- Set the Height to 3508.
- Select Background as white.
- Set Background Opacity to 100%.
- Click on OK button to create a new image file.
A new image with white background will be created.
Using Photoscape app the user can add text, image in it and align it properly. User can add scanned documents in image format.
Save the A4 size image in one of various image formats
Click on Save button to save the image file.
- Set the DPI to 300 DPI.
- Set the JPEG Quality settings. The quality setting between 90 to 100 produces good quality image.
- Click on Save As to save the file. (Shortcut : Ctrl+Shift+S)
- Set the File name.
- Set the Save as type to select the image format of the file.
- Click Save button to save the file.

Save the A4 size image in PDF format
Photoscape app can be used to convert files in image formats to PDF format.
- Open the Print tab.
- Open the image file.
- Set the Printer settings as Microsoft Print to PDF.
- Set Paper to A4.
- Set orientation to Portrait.
- Select 1×1.
- Select the option DPI and set it to 300 DPI – Printer Resolution.
- Click on Print button.
User also have option to leave space for margin.
- Depending in Operating system, Microsoft print to PDF window will open.
- Enable Print to file.
- Do other relevant settings and click Print button.
- Set the File name.
- Click Save button to save the file.
