After installing linux mint 17 MATE edition there are some good settings that can be done . I am merely suggesting you to do these settings.

- If you have installed “deluge” torrent down-loader the you should add an firewall rule to allow all incoming and outgoing connections.
- By default only port from 6881 to 6891 is allowed
- You should increase port range from 3000 to 65000
- Firewall settings done to allow all ip address to accept incoming and establish outgoing connection with port range 3000-65000.
